Violet Evergarden is Slow (And That’s Okay)

I think it’s okay to have a slow story. It may not be for everyone, but it always ends up with better characterization in the end. Violet Evergarden is no exception to me so far. Nicole herself even gave me some good analysis I included in the video!

Join me below the break to check it out!

“Violet Evergarden” to Premiere at Anime Expo 2017

Violet Evergarden, Kyoto Animation’s beautiful adaptation of the light novel series by the same name, will premiere its first episode at this year’s Anime Expo! The official website for the project announced this information along with a promotional video and key visual. Following the premiere, the convention will host a Q&A session with the series’ director Taichi Ishidate, the lead actress Yui Ishikawa, and the opening theme performer TRUE.

Anime Expo describes the series’ plot below:

“There are words Violet heard on the battlefield, which she cannot forget. These words were given to her by someone she holds dear, more than anyone else. She does not yet know their meaning.

A certain point in time, in the continent of Telesis. The great war which divided the continent into North and South has ended after four years, and the people are welcoming a new generation.

Violet Evergarden, a young girl formerly known as “the weapon”, has left the battlefield to start a new life at CH Postal Service. There, she is deeply moved by the work of “Auto Memories Dolls”, who carry people’s thoughts and convert them into words.

Violet begins her journey as an Auto Memories Doll, and comes face to face with various people’s emotions and differing shapes of love.  All the while searching for the meaning of those words.”

Violet Evergarden will begin airing in January 2018 after its world premiere on July 2.

You can find the promotional video after the break!

Waiting for more information is going to be tough.

MyAnimeList lists the synopsis below:

“Auto Memories Doll.

It’s already been a long time since that name was first popularized. It’s a machine that Dr. Orlando created that talks in a natural voice. At first, he only made it to help out his loving wife, but before long they spread out into the world. and companies were made to lend them out.

“I’m Violet Evergarden, the Auto Memories Doll who will rush to provide service anywhere you wish.”

That translucent voice comes from a robotic beautiful girl with blonde hair and blue eyes like she came out of a storybook.”

The Violet Evergarden light novel series won the grand prize in the 5th Kyoto Animation Award program’s novel category. The novel was published in December 2015 by Kana Akatsuki (story) and Akiko Takase (art).
