Countdown Illustration for “NieR:Automata” Revealed

There are only a few more days until NieR:Automata, the highly anticipated action RPG, releases in Japan on February 23. In preparation for that day, a countdown illustration was uploaded to the game’s official Twitter account.

For those unfamiliar, Square Enix describes the game below:

“Invaders from another world attack without warning, unleashing their secret weapon: the machines. In the face of this insurmountable threat, the human race is driven from the earth and takes refuge on the moon. The humans develop an army of android soldiers to fight back against the mechanical horde, but succeed only in slowing its advance. To break the deadlock, a new breed of android infantry is sent into the fray: the YoRHa squad.
In the forsaken wasteland below, the war between the machines and the androids rages on. A war that is soon to unveil the long-forgotten truth of this world…

NieR: Automata is a new third-person action RPG follow-up to the 2010 cult hit, NieR. Offering a fresh blend of action and RPG gameplay styles, NieR: Automata is currently being developed in collaboration with PlatinumGames, the studio known for its groundbreaking advancements in the action genre.”

The game will be released on March 7 in North America and should be available worldwide by March 10. Preorders are still being accepted for both the PC and PS4 editions at the price of $59.99. The $189.99 PS4 Black Box edition is currently sold out with a waiting list.

Preorders Open for Tracer Nendoroid

Good Smile Company has just opened preorders for their new Tracer Nendoroid (Overwatch)!

“Cheers, love! The cavalry’s here!”
From the globally popular multiplayer first-person shooter ‘Overwatch’ comes a Nendoroid of Tracer! The Nendoroid comes complete with a variety of optional parts to add effects for her abilities, interchangeable bent legs, and hair options that can cover up her eyes to recreate her iconic poses from the game!

Also included are Tracer’s trademark pulse pistols, along with open hand parts to pose her as without her guns, like when she activates her recall ability. Equip her pulse bomb to pose Tracer activating her ultimate ability! The Nendoroid is fully articulated, allowing her to be posed in many different ways, and has been carefully sculpted and tuned to ensure that the joints do not stand out, keeping Tracer’s unique appearance in tact. Be sure to add the first of the Overwatch Nendoroid series to your collection!”

This Nendoroid is approximately 100mm tall (about 3.9 inches) and is priced at 4,900 yen (roughly $42.86) including tax. She can be preordered through the Good Smile Company Online Shop until March 16, and the Blizzard store for $49.99. She should be available to order through other sites shortly.

The company has added a new subsection on their site for Overwatch x Good Smile Company products, so expect more characters to get some cool stuff in the future. Tracer will be officially released and shipped out in August 2017.

“Splatoon 2” to Feature LAN Play and Private Battle Spectating

Nintendo has revealed two new features that will be available in the upcoming Splatoon sequel: Private Battle Spectator View and LAN Play.

Private Battle Spectator View can allow two extra non-players to spectate Private Battles and act as camera operators to see the match from different angles. The LAN Play feature allows 8 players to connect their systems using a wired LAN setup to create local Private Battle tournaments without the use of an internet connection.

Sounds like these two features would be really useful if anyone wanted to setup some competitive on-stage tournaments. Splatoon 2 comes to the Nintendo Switch this summer.
