Official Trailer for Netflix’s Live Action “Death Note” Film Released

Netflix has released an official trailer for their live-action Death Note film adaptation. The film has been surrounded by a lot of negativity, as it changes many aspects of the original work. The 2-minute trailer shows off the four main characters: Light Turner (changed from Light Yagami and played by Nat Wolff), L (played by Lakeith Stanfield), Ryuk (voiced by Willem Dafoe), and Mia Sutton (changed from Misa Amane and played by Margaret Qualley).

“What if you had the power to decide who lives and who dies?

We suggest you obey the rules. Based on the famous Japanese manga written by Tsugumi Ohba and Takeshi Obata, Death Note follows a high school student who comes across a supernatural notebook, realizing it holds within it a great power; if the owner inscribes someone’s name into it while picturing their face, he or she will die. Intoxicated with his new godlike abilities, the young man begins to kill those he deems unworthy of life.”

Death Note will begin streaming on Netflix on August 25.
