The Yuri!!! on Ice event, “Yuri!!! on Stage”, has ended with an important announcement: the series is receiving a new film!
This is a new production work, so it should not be a recap film. For those of you unaware of the series, you can find the synopsis below:
“Reeling from his crushing defeat at the Grand Prix Finale, Yuuri Katsuki, once Japan’s most promising figure skater, returns to his family home to assess his options for the future. At age 23, Yuuri’s window for success in skating is closing rapidly, and his love of pork cutlets and aptitude for gaining weight are not helping either.
However, Yuuri finds himself in the spotlight when a video of him performing a routine previously executed by five-time world champion, Victor Nikiforov, suddenly goes viral. In fact, Victor himself abruptly appears at Yuuri’s house and offers to be his mentor. As one of his biggest fans, Yuuri eagerly accepts, kicking off his journey to make it back onto the world stage. But the competition is fierce, as the rising star from Russia, Yuri Plisetsky, is relentlessly determined to defeat Yuuri and win back Victor’s tutelage.”
The “Yuri!!! on Stage” event will be available to watch on Blu-ray/DVD on July 28.
“The final Splatfest rocketed the Squid Sisters to new heights of popularity. Callie and Marie went from mere Inkopolis idols to the biggest stars in Inkling society, seemingly overnight. Their days became filled–from dawn to dusk–with the duties of this newfound fame.
Callie and Marie still lived in the first apartment they rented upon moving to Inkopolis. It had all happened naturally when they’d first arrived: being roommates made adjusting to city life easier, and besides, the two had been inseparable since they were young. But even after their finances had stabilized and they’d gotten used to the bustle of Inkopolis, they never gave a thought to living apart.
They were always together, both at work and at play. After releasing their first solo recordings, though, their work began to take them down separate paths more frequently. Callie, true to her outgoing nature, began to make guest appearances on variety shows. Filming would often continue late into the night, and many days she didn’t return home at all. Marie received critical praise for her recording of “Tide Goes Out” and became a frequent guest on music shows, in addition to performing live concerts on her own. Up to this point, whether heading out for the day or coming home at night, the two had always been together. Now, though, their different schedules meant they didn’t see each other as often, even on their days off.
They spent more and more time apart with each passing day…”
It looks like Callie and Marie were experiencing the usual, busy idol lifestyle. Will this eventually split the two sisters apart?

Anime is a nearly endless ocean of content from every level of quality, and for almost every genre there is a series out there for anyone. Often, people like to keep themselves within certain genres and only explore out of that genre in certain fringe cases. For a long time I was the same, but as anyone who has checked my Anime-Planet knows, that isn’t exactly the case now.
Below is a list of series I believe everyone should give a watch. Many of the series may be critically acclaimed, but that doesn’t lessen the impact these series had on me when expanding my interest.
Japan’s animated McDonald’s ad has received a sequel!
The first advertisement was released in March 2016 and gained lots of popularity for its beautiful animation and light-hearted atmosphere. The ad’s story follows two girls, a new employee at McDonald’s and her co-worker who teaches her how to do her job. It’s pretty cute.
The ads are part of McDonald’s campaign to attract more part-timers, and members of the idol group AKB48 voice the characters.

This was unexpected if I do say so myself. It looks like Nintendo’s 2DS system has gotten a few extra touch-ups. Nintendo has stated that it’s set to release on July 28, with an MSRP of $149.99, so mark your calendars for that date!
