Trailer and Visual Released for “Splatoon 2″‘s Single-Player Campaign

Nintendo’s latest Direct for their upcoming game ARMS included a new trailer and visual for Splatoon 2‘s single-player campaign: Hero Mode. The two and a half minute trailer shows the campaign’s opening scene with Marie and introduces some of the fun gameplay, and squid puns, you can experience in Hero Mode.

“Callie—of Squid Sisters fame—has gone missing and it’s up to you, with the help of Marie, to search for Callie and the Great Zapfish while battling against the Octarian army. Use different weapons in single-player mode to overcome obstacles, defeat enemies and take down towering bosses – weapons like the Roller, Slosher, Splatling, or the new Dualies.”

Splatoon 2 is set to release on July 21 at the retail price of $59.99.

“Splatoon 2” Squid Sisters Stories Updated with First Chapter

Chapter 1 of the “Squid Sisters Stories” has been updated to Splatoon 2‘s official website! The story’s introduction and prologue were uploaded earlier this week.

“The final Splatfest rocketed the Squid Sisters to new heights of popularity. Callie and Marie went from mere Inkopolis idols to the biggest stars in Inkling society, seemingly overnight. Their days became filled–from dawn to dusk–with the duties of this newfound fame.

Callie and Marie still lived in the first apartment they rented upon moving to Inkopolis. It had all happened naturally when they’d first arrived: being roommates made adjusting to city life easier, and besides, the two had been inseparable since they were young. But even after their finances had stabilized and they’d gotten used to the bustle of Inkopolis, they never gave a thought to living apart.

They were always together, both at work and at play. After releasing their first solo recordings, though, their work began to take them down separate paths more frequently. Callie, true to her outgoing nature, began to make guest appearances on variety shows. Filming would often continue late into the night, and many days she didn’t return home at all. Marie received critical praise for her recording of “Tide Goes Out” and became a frequent guest on music shows, in addition to performing live concerts on her own. Up to this point, whether heading out for the day or coming home at night, the two had always been together. Now, though, their different schedules meant they didn’t see each other as often, even on their days off.

They spent more and more time apart with each passing day…”

It looks like Callie and Marie were experiencing the usual, busy idol lifestyle. Will this eventually split the two sisters apart?

“Splatoon 2” Website Updated with Squid Sisters Stories

The Splatoon 2 official website was updated yesterday with information about the Squid Sisters. A new section titled “Squid Sisters Stories” has appeared claiming to have top-secret intel on Callie and Marie.

“One of our researchers monitoring the Squid Sisters intercepted this top-secret report from the Inkling world. Let’s see now… What? Just what in the world IS this?!

About nine months have passed since the final Splatfest. Twilight lowers its curtain on Inkopolis. Neon signs paint the dusk in brilliant shades of green and pink. The Squid Sisters dance on, as though driven by the Inkling love of battling for turf. Memories such as these linger, vividly etched in my mind, but feel too like remnants of a long-forgotten past.

It happened the night the final Splatfest came to an end. The showdown of Callie versus Marie ended in victory for Marie, but there was no ill will between the two. The girls left the studio arm in arm, smiling and laughing as they always had. The bond between them would continue, unbroken, for years to come.

Or so it seemed at the time…”

It looks like there’s a reason only Marie was seen in the game’s trailer after all. Only the introduction and prologue have been uploaded at this time. New updates will be posted each week, so expect more information to arrive soon!

The pictures that went with the Squid Sisters Stories can be found after the break!

“Splatoon 2” to Feature LAN Play and Private Battle Spectating

Nintendo has revealed two new features that will be available in the upcoming Splatoon sequel: Private Battle Spectator View and LAN Play.

Private Battle Spectator View can allow two extra non-players to spectate Private Battles and act as camera operators to see the match from different angles. The LAN Play feature allows 8 players to connect their systems using a wired LAN setup to create local Private Battle tournaments without the use of an internet connection.

Sounds like these two features would be really useful if anyone wanted to setup some competitive on-stage tournaments. Splatoon 2 comes to the Nintendo Switch this summer.
